June Prayer Letter

Wow, so much has happened in the last few months that it’s hard to know where to begin! Our biggest news, of course, is the birth of our daughter, Audrey Ellen, on April 4th! Although Sara had a rough pregnancy with bad morning sickness, Audrey made up for it with a relatively quick and easy delivery. She came two weeks ahead of schedule in the early morning. We barely had time to make it to the birthing center! She weighed 6 lbs 14oz.

We have been so blessed by our friends and family who helped us in so many ways after Audrey’s birth. Sara’s parents were able to visit from Wisconsin shortly after the birth, and John-Mark’s family was also able to spend three weeks with us here. It was wonderful to have both sets of parents here for Audrey’s baby dedication at the end of April. We also greatly appreciate all the people who came by to visit and bring meals!

Audrey is two months old now, and is a healthy and happy baby. It is so much fun seeing her smile now as we entertain her! For the last two weeks of May, John-Mark spent a lot of time with Audrey as a stay-at-home dad, while Sara returned to work in order to train another social worker for her company. As we close this chapter of our lives, we are very grateful to God for how he has provided for us. We both had full time jobs, and even a free place to live for this last year. Being finished with work gave us time to pack up our apartment and ship our belongings to Liberia. We said our goodbyes in South Carolina last week, and have moved up to Wisconsin . We look forward to spending the summer with family in Wisconsin and Minnesota, and sharing about our ministry with people in the Midwest.

It has definitely been a leap of faith to leave our paying jobs and raise support during these troubled economic times. But, we are happy that we serve the God who “owns the cattle on a thousand hills” (Ps 50:10). We have been so blessed by all the people God has led to partner with us so far. Right now we have about 45% of our monthly support needs promised. We are hoping to move to Liberia by October of this year. In order for that to happen, we need to raise another $2,600 in monthly support, and $16,000 in start up costs.

Would you prayerfully consider how you could help us towards our goal? Every gift is a huge blessing! We would love to share with your Sunday school class or community group. Let us know if you’d like us to visit. Most of all we need your prayers. It is such an encouragement to have you standing with us as we go.
